Art at the Edge at the Ashmolean
20/03/201220/05/2012To celebrate the London Olympics 2012, the Ashmolean will display a group of bronze sculptures from Art At The Edge, a commissioned series of sculptural studies, representing different Olympic and Paralympic sports. Each sculpture is cast in bronze and made by a different artist to reflect the cross-section of contemporary British sculpture. The works will be placed in the Ashmolean’s Human Image Gallery, amongst the Museum’s permanent collections. Temporary Display | 19 March–20 May 2012 | Gallery 2 | Admission Free
Piercing Brightness - Shezad Dawood
05/04/201210/06/2012Referencing his frequent use of, and meditations on, light, time and montage (both as a cinematic and a painterly device) the exhibition at Modern Art Oxford will feature Dawood’s most recent film and installation work, including the first UK presentation of New Dream Machine Project (2011), and a gallery installation of Trailer (2011). With this exhibition Dawood calls into question our attempts to reconcile the passing of time and the creation of identity in our own lives.
