Chipping Norton Town Hall

Chipping NortonThe Town of Chipping Norton is located in the Cotswold Hills about 12 miles south of Banbury. There is a motte-and-bailey castle (of which some earthworks remain) and this was thought to be the original settlement of the town. The name of the town translated from old English means 'north market town'. The Rollright Stones are a prehistoric monument situated about 2.5 miles north of the town. The parish church of St. Mary the Virgin is a product of the wealth of the wool industry from medieval times.
