Oxford Chamber Music Society Presents The Gould Piano Trio
Haydn composed this attractive trio in the 1790s, around the period of his visits to London and Oxford but it is only in the last decade that Ireland's clarinet trio has been widely heard; written almost a hundred years ago its recent performances have been possible only through a reconstruction. Milhaud in his trio characteristically combines a racy combination of jazz and folk-like elements and the concert concludes with the colourful and best-known of Dvořák's piano trios.
In their regular and extensive tours to the USA, The Gould Piano Trio have covered the major venues in New York and in Europe, highlights have included the Queens Hall - Edinburgh, Concertgebouw - Amsterdam and the Palais des Beaux Arts - Brussels, as well as recitals in Paris, Cologne, Athens and Vienna. Robert Plane has enjoyed a career encompassing solo and chamber work, as well as holding the principal clarinet positions of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Northern Sinfonia and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. His recordings have achieved high acclaim.
