A Festival of Sonic Surprises and Discoveries
Audiograft festival returns with even more incredible sonic riches to discover than last year. Audiograft is an annual festival of Contemporary Experimental Music and Sound Art and is curated by the Sonic Art Research Unit at Oxford Brookes University and co-promoted by OCM. The festival will run over 5 days, holding four performances and three exhibitions involving over 25 artists. The festival runs this year from 28 February – 3 March at various venues throughout Oxford.
Audiograft aims to engage the widest possible audience from Oxford and beyond with the challenging contemporary practices that are the focus of the Sonic Art Research Unit at Oxford Brookes University. Artists presented by Audiograft include Trevor Wishart, Felicity Ford, ParkinsonSaunders, Cremaster, Manfred Werder & Ben Owen, Ben Gwilliam, [rout], Paul Whitty, Lee Patterson, Robert Curgenven, Jason Kahn, Max Eastley, Catherine Laws, Kolis Kilymis, Mike Blow, Sarah Hughes, Stephen Cornford, Daniel Jones, Alfred Costa Monteiro, Ferran Fages, Compost & Height, Patrick Farmer, Kerry Yong, David Prior, Anvil & Stirrup, Uniform, Shirley Pegna and Lee Riley.
Once again, this year’s Audiograft promises intriguing sound installations and immersive electroacoustic performances, alongside an ambitious new realisation of John Cages’s rarely performed Cartridge Music. This piece will be performed by Alfredo Costa Monteiro, Lee Patterson, Robert Curgenven, Patrick Farmer, Ferran Fages, Daniel Jones and Stephen Cornford.
The majority of sound installations will take place at the leafy picturesque Headington Hill campus, Oxford Brookes University. However, Holywell Music Room, Modern Art Oxford and Jacqueline du Pré Concert Hall are three astonishing Oxford venues holding festival events this year.
